WHO calls for urgent action as new cancer cases are projected to nearly double by 2050
WHO reports an estimated 20.6 million new cancer cases and close to 10 million deaths annually. Without urgent action, annual new cases are projected to reach nearly 35 million by 2050.
The report calls for a people-centered approach that addresses prevention, diagnosis, treatment, supportive care, survivorship, and the lived experiences of people and families affected by cancer. It also documents persistent inequities in who can reach cancer services and who benefits from scientific progress.
